SMP Negeri 2 Semarang is State Junior High School comprising of grade levels 7 to 9, guided by their vision "EXCELLENT IN ACHIEVEMENT, CHARACTER, AND ENVIRONMENTAL CARE".

Objectives of the Educational Institution:
An educational institution excellent in academic and non-academic achievements, achieving mastery for all subjects, 100% graduation, active participation in various competitions, and students with independent, critical, and creative characters.
Graduates who are outstanding, with good character, love for the homeland and diversity, and capable of integrating Pancasila Student Profile values into regular school routines.
Graduates who excel in competitions for entry into high schools, achieving national and international accolades, renewing facilities, and learning support resources.
Graduates who are moral, with noble character, valuing faith and piety, creating a safe, clean, and conducive school environment.
Graduates who care about the environment, maintaining togetherness, creating a comfortable and enjoyable learning atmosphere, and collaborating with schools both domestically and internationally.
Routines involving national events, religious rituals, and regional customs are also present. These include reciting the Asma'ul Husna, offering prayers both before and after class, and respecting the flag when it is raised in the classroom and in the school courtyard. The Pancasila, which embodies Indonesia's national ideology, is also read by pupils. Along with promoting local values, the school makes a point of welcoming pupils each day with smiles, greetings, salutes, and politeness. Additionally, the school takes an active part in celebrations like Dugderan and the Semarang Carnival.
Founded during the Dutch Colonial Government, this school has a withstanding history. It is a well-known public school that garners multiple achievements in different fields both academic and extra- curricular in the national and international setting. They believe in having balance between academic and non-academic that is why they have various clubs such as, the Galang Council, choir, art, tari dareah, first aid, rebana,karawitan, majalah Shine Up
Academic Support System
The Emancipated Curriculum is implemented in the school, with a focus on character education, literacy, and numeracy as essential skills. High-stakes national tests are replaced with a project-based learning methodology, customized instruction, and streamlined lesson planning.
Based on this basis, the Merdeka curriculum aims to develop students' character and skills by molding them into Pancasila profiles. This government program, which began as an expansion of the emergency curriculum during the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia, attempts to hasten the recovery of knowledge.
In line with the Pancasila ideals of faith, fear of God, noble character, global awareness, cooperation, independence, critical thinking, and creativity, the Pancasila student profile represents competent, lifelong learners. The COVID-19 epidemic caused changes in pupils' identity patterns, which gave rise to the phrase.
Their operational curriculum complies with all applicable laws, including the
decree of the Minister of Education and Pancasila, which is Indonesia's official
philosophical foundation. The five tenets are the existence of a single, all=powerful God, fair and civilized mankind, Indonesian unity, democracy governed by inner guidance, and social fairness for all Indonesians.
Teaching System
Phase D of the SMP/MTs curriculum includes classes VII and VIII. It is made up of 25%
of the yearly class hours and includes intracurricular learning as well as the Pancasila student profile strengthening project.
Both the content and the timeline of the Pancasila student profile strengthening initiative are flexible. Content-wise, regardless of subject-specific accomplishments, it is consistent with the Pancasila student profile achievements for the student's phase. Time-wise, the project can be carried out by mixing class hours from different courses, and the length of each project doesn't have to be the same.
